Text Settings
This site has been created using techniques recommended by the W3C which are designed to maximise accessibily to as many user-groups as possible.
Changing display settings
This site has been created with optional 'style sheet's' to allow users to choose an appearance which best suit's their needs. These options should be accessible through your browsers menus assuming that your browser is compatible with web standards. In addition to this, the font sizes employed throughout the site can also be increased through your web browser.
Text sizes can be increased by pressing CTRL + "+" and decreased by using CTRL + "-" to adjust the text size accordingly.
Additional notes about accessibility
1 - All text sizes are defined as relative to the users preferred text size. This allows the user to view the site using a text size that is comfortable to them.
2 - We use correct and semantic mark-up of interface using xhtml to identify the nature of interface elements and content. this approach mean that the structural integrity of the content is not dependant on the presence of the 'visual design'. In additional the structural integration the use of him not only ensures content is accessible to older user agents but also maximises future compatibility.
3 - Distinct separation of content, style and behavioural elements allowing any user-agent to access content layer without their presence of the other 'layers'. All style and behavioural elements are applied to complete content instead so no content is dependant upon the functionality of the users method of browsing. All interface design is implemented through the use of css and any additional interface effects using javascript. This approach also allows the user to specify a specialist 'stylesheet' which has been may be customised specifically for their needs.
Browser Compatibility
Cds's construction techniques ensures that all content will be accessible by ANY method of browsing. However, while the content of the site is the most aspect of the website it does not represent it's totality. When we refer to browser compatibility we are referring browsers on which all three layers (content, style and behaviour ) will be available in there entirety.
Cds aim to make all sites compatible with current versions of the following browsers:
internet explorer, firefox , mozilla, netscape, opera and safari.
(While these are the browsers we actively test on our sites should be compatible with a wider range due to our standards-based approach)
In addition to the browsers listed above we additionally test on internet explorer 5 - 5.5 due to there still active user base. However ensuring full compatibility with these browsers can potentially come at the expense of accessibility. In this situation accessibility will provide the overriding factor.
